At Junge Stadium in Joplin, Missouri, accessibility upgrades were required to ensure all spectators could reach the upper bleacher seating. A new Artira inclined platform lift, designed for outdoor operation, was installed to provide safe and reliable access on stadium stairways.
The Challenge
The stadium’s steep stairs and exposed outdoor conditions demanded a robust accessibility solution. The architect also required a unique safety feature: a secure barrier at the upper landing to prevent unauthorized stair use.
The Solution
Garaventa Lift installed an outdoor-rated Artira composed of stainless steel rail tubes, a sensing plate, and a durable drive box. To meet the architect’s request, a custom Genesis OPAL gate was integrated at the upper landing—an extremely rare modification that ensured added safety for the stadium environment.
Result & Impact
The installation created a barrier-free path to the bleachers, with a custom safety gate ensuring code compliance and stadium-specific.
